NYFIDA

In July 2021 Spyros Polychronopoulos and Jannis Anastasakis, moved most of their studio equipment and musical instruments to Spyros’ grandparents’ house in Nyfida village (Lesbos island) to record an album.
Spyros worked on the recordings for several weeks shaping the multichannel recordings to form the “Nyfida” album.

This work found shelter at Lawrence English‘s record label Room40 and is released today as an interactive sound box!

Nyfida Sound Box is a versatile device inviting you, the listener, to challenge the enclosed composed material’s form and intended use in perpetuity.

Arve Henriksen & Jannis Anastasakis

The acclaimed Norwegian trumpeter and composer, Arve Henriksen, meets the innovative guitarist and live-electronics performer, Jannis Anastasakis.
The two have previously collaborated on stage in 2014 (six dogs, Athens) and 2018 (Anglican Church, Athens).
They are currently working on the completion of their first album together, which will be completed in 2024.

Sound of Color

Sound of Color, initiated 9 years ago at the TV Control Center (KET) in Kypseli, is an innovative audiovisual project crafted by Jannis Anastasakis, on guitars, synths, musical-saw and live-electronics, along with Natalia Manta, who specializes in analog and digital live-visuals.

This project delves into the dynamic interplay between sound and imagery, utilizing free-improvisation as its creative medium.

Sound of Color Sessions happen once a month @KET with various guest musicians and visual artists convening to co-create distinctive in-situ audiovisual experiences. The project also takes its unique fusion of disciplines to various locations around the world, fostering collaboration among artists from diverse backgrounds.

Notable collaborations have featured renowned artists such as Arve Henriksen, Eivind Aarset, Christian Fennesz, Rachel Eckroth, Giuseppe Doronzo, Thodoris Rellos, Michalis Siganidis, Savina Yannatou, Floros Floridis, Eratzo Tzavara, COM.ODD.OR, Irini Karayannopoulou, Deniz Angelaki, Best Before (Andreas Karaoulanis) and more.

PERΞ

PΕRΞ (PERKXX) is the new music duo project of the Athens-based musicians Jannis Anastasakis and Jeph Vanger.
Armed with analog electronics and drum machines as their primary tools, they sculpt a sonic experience that defies convention, blending noise, rhythm, and distortion.
Their live performances are a fusion of hypnotic repetition and pulsating low frequencies, enveloping audiences in a whirlwind of raw energy.

SMOOP

SMOOP was created in February 2024 in Portugal by Jannis Anastasakis, Nicky Kokkoli, Simos Riniotis and José Lencastre.
The quartet completed its first European tour playing in Lisbon, Porto and Parede. The recording of their first album took place in Athens, Greece.

“HORSELOVERFAT” : Thodoris Rellos & Jannis Anastasakis

The music duo of Thodoris Rellos (bari-sax, flute, voice) and Jannis Anastasakis (el.guitar, cl.guitar, effects, live-sampling, analog synth bass) present their first joined recording titled “HORSELOVERFAT” *, released on CD & limited-edition white LP.

The material and compositions in the record, where created during the duo’s live performances in the course of the past 5 years, the improvisations and experimentations with their instruments’ naturally produced sounds while referring to and drawing inspiration from american sic-fi writer Philip K. Dick’s short-stories.

* HORSELOVER FAT is Phillip K. Dick’s alter ego in his book “VALIS”
Philip is a given name, derived from the Greek Φίλιππος (Philippos, meaning: “horse-loving” or “fond of horses”)
Dick (in German) translates into FAT

Elektronik Meditation

Elektronik Meditation” is an experimental audio-visual project by Jannis Anastasakis (guitars & effects) and Deniz Angelaki (live painting), coming from Athens, Greece.

Deniz Angelaki is using color as means of expression, along with the camera documenting every moment and detail that is taking place on the canvas. With a special projection technique, offers incredible attention to detail and creates a unique ambiance, providing a visual extension to the music of Jannis Anastasakis.

Elektronik Meditation have released 3 independent albums titled, “Live CD/DVD”, “Purgatory” and “Vigeland”.
By the words of Adam Levy, “Purgatory is like if Brian Eno made a guitar record. Even the darker bits are poetic !”

They have collaborated with Arve Henriksen, Thodoris Rellos, Andreas Polyzogopoulos, Nikos Sidirokastritis, Harris Lambrakis and Jennie Kapadai.

They have toured all over Greece, Cyprus, Oslo (Norway), Istanbul (Turkey) and Eindhoven (Netherlands).

TV BOON trio : Floros Floridis / Jannis Anastasakis / Yorgos Dimitriadis

a new project formed by Floros Floridis (reeds, electronics) , Jannis Anastasakis (guitar, electronics) and Yorgos Dimitriadis (drums, electronics).

The band did a small tour, with 10 performances all over Greece and they released their first CD

Intravenus

Jannis Anastasakis used to be a member of Intravenus, a progressive-psychedelic rock band, from 2003 until 2013.

In 2012 they released their debut album, called “Oiseau”, which got really great reviews.
